CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS
The term "adjustment" refers to the specific manipulation chiropractors apply to vertebrae that have abnormal movement patterns or fail to function normally. The objective of the chiropractic treatment is to reduce the subluxation, which results in an increased range of motion, reduced nerve irritability and improved function.
At our office, this is achieved by using an adjusting instrument which is gentle, specific, and effective for all ages, ranging from infants to the elderly. Instrument adjusting does not involve any twisting, "cracking", or pulling. Most often, the patient lies face-down on a padded table, in a neutral posture. The body is analyzed, and corrective adjustments are made as needed. A typical adjustment lasts from seven to twelve minutes, depending on the severity and complexity of the case, and patients often comment on how relaxing the process is.
